Directional prints and designs evoking a sense of history and character are the essence of Emma Cook’s work. Born in Manchester in 1975, Cook studied textiles at the University of Brighton, going on to complete an MA in Womenswear at Central St Martins, where her classmates included Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney. Her 1999 graduation collection - well received by the British press - highlighted an attention to detail that would go on to characterize her career.
Cook went on to work for Martine Sitbon in Paris, focusing on showpieces for the catwalk, moving later to Ghost. She decided to start her own collection, winning a Vidal Sassoon young talent award which enabled her to produce a London Fashion Week show for Spring/Summer 2001. Always very graphic with strong construction techniques, Cook is obsessed with finding the story behind the clothes. Emma’s design signatures are prints, embellishments, and girly clothes with a sense of humor.
